What was, is, or will be the best time to live?

There are large groups of people who are unhappy with life in the present time. For example, the purpose of the Society for Creative Anachronism "is the study and recreation of the European Middle Ages, its crafts, sciences, arts, traditions, literature." Members put on elaborate events such as the Renaissance Faire, in which people wear period costumes and try to recreate the food, the speech, and the life of the Middle Ages. On the other hand, some people like to attend Star Trek conventions, where they imagine what it would be like to live in the future amid advanced technology and aliens from many worlds. For many, living in the present time just doesn't seem to be as interesting as living in the past or the future.
