Handout:  Internet Research

Our course  requires you to locate information on the web. Performing Internet research can be a very difficult and challenging; but, for you, it won't be. You will just need to use a search engine, such as Google, and look up information on different terms. On the Web, there are many tutorials on how to look up information using search engines. To locate a tutorial, go to a search engine and do a look up on, "Internet research" or "Using the Web to find information." I am sure you can figure out how to do this. But if you don't want to read a tutorial on doing internet research it is not necessary.

For our purposes, all you will have to do is open a search engine, put in a search term or sentence and you will get plenty of information.  When you find the information and later reference it in your discussion or writing, you are required to post a link to the web page where the information is located.

Here is an example of doing research. Find information about paragraphs. Use Google or Yahoo or another search engine and you will get many answers. Try it yourself. Next try looking up information on a specific kind of paragraph: Introductory Paragraphs.  Just put in in the phase Introductory Paragraph and see all the information you receive.
